This Privacy Policy explains how ParkGuard ("ParkGuard," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the ParkGuard mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Account information. If you create an account, we collect the email address and authentication identifier provided by Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or the email/password you enter directly. We do not receive or store your Apple or Google password.
• Vehicle information. Any vehicle nicknames, colors, or notes you choose to enter.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Location data. With your permission, the App collects your device's precise location to detect where you've parked, look up applicable street-sweeping schedules, and warn you before a sweeping restriction begins. Location may be collected in the background if you enable automatic parking detection, solely to determine when your vehicle has stopped moving near a curb.
• Motion and vehicle-connection signals. With your permission, the App may use motion activity data and audio-route (e.g., CarPlay/Bluetooth) connection events to infer when you have started or ended a drive, so it can automatically detect a parking event without you opening the App.
• Camera data. If you use the sign-scanning feature, the App accesses your camera to photograph a posted parking sign. Photographs are processed on-device (via Apple's Vision framework) to extract text and are not uploaded to our servers or retained by us.
• Community-shared sign data (opt-in, off by default). If you turn on "Share sign scans with other users" in Settings, a scanned sign's location, the restriction it named (e.g. a duration or a permit zone letter), and its raw text are shared to our backend so other ParkGuard users near that spot benefit from it automatically. This never includes your account identity, your parking history, or any other location you've visited — only the specific sign and location you chose to share, and only once other users independently report the same thing does the App treat it as reliable. You can turn this off at any time; doing so stops future scans from being shared but does not retroactively delete ones you already contributed, which by then are indistinguishable from any other user's contribution.
• Subscription and transaction data. Apple provides us a signed record of your subscription status (active, expired, trial, cancelled) via StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment card number, billing address, or other payment credentials — those are handled entirely by Apple.
• Diagnostic data. Standard crash and performance logs generated by iOS, which may include device type, OS version, and approximate app state at the time of a crash.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect contacts, photos (other than the transient sign-scan camera frame described above), browsing history, or data from other apps. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and the App contains no ad SDKs.
