This Privacy Policy explains what information the ParkGuard iPhone, Apple Watch and widget experiences (the "App") and the ParkGuard website collect, why, who receives it, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. ParkGuard is operated by Nikolas Carruthers, doing business as ParkGuard ("ParkGuard," "we," "us," or "our"), in California, United States.

The short version

• Your parking locations stay yours. Where you park, the route the App records while you drive, your saved cars, and any home or work address you enter are kept on your devices and in your own private iCloud storage. We do not keep a copy of them on our servers.
• Looking up the rules sends a location, not you. To find the parking rules for where you parked, the App sends that location — without your name, email or account — to the city that publishes the rules, and to Apple to name the street.
• Our servers hold the minimum needed to run your account: your email address, how you sign in, your subscription status, the devices you use ParkGuard on, and a short list of App settings.
• Sharing sign scans is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, a sign's location and what it says are shared with other users. Other users cannot see who shared a report. So the App can tell reports from different people apart, our server keeps a private record of which accounts reported or confirmed each sign, which no other user can access.
• We do not sell or share your personal information, show ads, or use advertising, tracking or analytics tools.
• You can delete your account inside the App at any time.

1. Information kept on your devices and in your iCloud

The following stays on your iPhone (and, where noted, your Apple Watch, widgets and Live Activities, which show your current parking status on your own devices):

• Parking records: the location where you parked, how accurate that location was, the time, the street and address, the parking rules found for that spot, any notes you add, and any meter time you enter.
• Drive routes: while you drive, the App records a short trail of locations so it can tell where your car came to a stop. The trail is used only for that purpose and is cleared when your next drive begins.
• Recent drive recordings: so we can work out why a car was saved in the wrong place, the App keeps the evidence behind its most recent parking decisions on your iPhone — the trail of locations from that drive, how accurate each one was, what started the decision and what the App decided. It keeps the last twenty and deletes older ones automatically. These stay on your iPhone unless you choose to send one to us (see below).
• Saved cars: a name for each car, and the name of the car's audio or Bluetooth connection, so the App can recognize your car. The App learns about audio connections from iOS; it does not use Bluetooth scanning.
• Places you enter: a home or work address, if you choose to add one.
• Permit information: a residential permit zone or accessible placard, if you entered one. This feature is currently unavailable in the App; anything previously entered remains on your device.
